One of two exceptional offerings from the highly talented, all round lovely and incredibly interesting soul that is Ola Szmidt.
We first met Ola a couple of years back at one of our Grade 10 nights here in Leicester through a friend of a friend. We instantly struck up a great connection and a strong friendship that felt as though we'd known each other for years. We danced all night and then continued our conversations through the next day in the shop. We exchanged a few records and we we're instantly blown away upon hearing what Ola had to offer. Ola then asked if we'd come up to York where she was living at the time to play a show with her. We of course instantly said yes. Ola has since moved back to Leicester and we couldn't be happier that she's here. Having already put on a special and very intimate show at St. Nicolas Church just around the corner since her return to the city, we're super excited to see and hear what she does next.
A true artist, Ola is a master of her sound, using loops of her incredible vocals and an array of varying instruments including the Bass, Ukulele and flute, Ola crafts incredible ambient soundscapes that carry great depth and meaning.
A truly special one and a talent to keep an eye on for sure.
