The Mauskovic Dance Band - Bukaroo Bank

Amsterdam’s Mauskovic Dance Band deal in loose, shape shifting dance music, pulling from all angles and pushing things forward as they go. Elastic rhythms, dubwise touches, and a fondness for flipping global sounds into something a bit more off centre. Their 2019 debut on Soundway leaned into a fast moving mix of champeta, highlife and spaced out disco. This time around, Buckaroo Bank shifts gears, drawing on the grit of New York, post-punk, and early electronics, while keeping that rhythmic core intact. Dub still sits right at the centre of it all. A kind of internal echo chamber runs through the record, nodding to Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, with studio collaborator Kasper Frenkel helping shape the tools behind this latest phase of the Mauskovic sound.
