Various Artists - Flying High: Chopper Productions 1985-1991
A proper slice of Kingston-meets-New York dancehall from the golden era. Flying High brings together twelve cuts from the Chopper Productions catalogue, moving between heavy early 80s live rhythms recorded at Channel 1 and the sharper, more digital sound that arrived towards the end of the decade. Lionel Barrett features heavily, alongside Ever Irie, Singing Bomb, Courtney Melody, Reggie Stepper and more. Plenty of vocal heat, sound system energy and a few tracks appearing on vinyl for the first time.
