A deep dive into the second phase of Philip Smart’s career as engineer and producer at his own HC&F Studio. These ten tracks pull from the heart of his production years, running from the mid ’80s when the studio first hit its stride right through to his final sessions in ’96. You’ll find big tunes like the Garnett Silk classic, deeper album cuts from Frankie Paul, NY dancehall staples from Scion Success and Shelene, plus a handful of rarer treasures. There are also two never before released killers: a wicked mid ’80s Tony Tuff piece and the wild, vocoder driven 1985 theme for Philip’s Get Smart radio show, which held down the airwaves on WNYU for years.
