"Last Exit" by Mark Fell & Rian Treanor, originally released as a cassette in Boomkat's Documenting Sound series in 2021, has undergone a transformation, resulting in this expanded and revised edition. In a unique musical collaboration between father and son, the duo draws inspiration from a diverse spectrum of influences encompassing free jazz, minimalism, Indian classical, and gamelan traditions. The result is a departure from their individual artistic styles, offering a dreamlike atmosphere that was further enriched by field recordings captured in their family garden during the lockdown period. While small fragments of their solo work subtly weave through the compositions, this album blurs the boundaries between the real and the imaginary, creating an evocative and enigmatic sonic experience.
