Memotone - Memotone EP

Indulge in the enigmatic world of jazz psychedelia, a slow-burning tapestry of sound curated by William Yates. In an entrancing debut on the Sähkö label, Yates weaves a web of shadowy allure that evokes echoes of noir aesthetics, creating an immersive auditory experience.

Hailing from Bristol, Memotone has established himself as a revered architect of electronic and ambient sonic landscapes since the outset of the 2010s. However, it's in the recent years that he has truly blossomed, unleashing a series of albums via Memorecs, as well as collaborations like Accidental Meeting and Industrial Coast. These offerings encapsulate his most intimate and introspective creations, forming a quiet haven of musical introspection.

The EP, aptly titled 'Memotone,' unfurls a collection of six tracks that traverse the delicate nexus between jazz and ambient realms. Akin to celestial bodies aligning, the EP captures a golden period for the artist. The compositions flutter within the interstellar spaces evoking both Pekka Airaksinen and Jimi Tenor, while occasionally channeling the spirit of Portishead and the experimental essence of the Treader label.

Embarking on an intricately charted course, the EP navigates through the lysergic landscapes of 'Measure for Measure,' where electro-jazz intricacies intermingle. The rain-soaked tranquility of 'Niigghht' invites listeners into a drizzly cocoon of sound. 'DroneX-7 (extended Mix)' immerses the audience in a cascading panorama, while 'Blackcap Crossing' introduces a tapestry of machine-driven jazz that glistens with captivating unpredictability.
