DJ Prime Cuts on Trilogy Tapes, who would have thought that back in the 90's when we were following The Scratch Perverts listening to the madness that was the golden age of turntablism that one day one of those wrist flexing masters would head to one of our favourite labels and knock out a brilliant six tracker of essentially Battle Axe break tunes that have been taken to their final form. Prime Cuts shows his years of knowledge so subtly that the technical skills involved in each of tunes is almost lost in the overall smoothness of the execution.
It's the kind of record that makes us glad to be alive in 2023 and the kind of record that in 1996 would have made us stick our tongues out and go ballistic, crabbing all the way until the fader broke. Talking about crabbing there are three tones at the end of the record to do just that, maybe buy two copies, do people still do that? we'd have defo bought two copies, yes to this record, yes to Prime Cuts and yes to Trilogy for releasing timeless records.
